This website has been designed as a reference point for information about my life and work as an artist. It outlines and gives examples of my work. Additionally, it describes my influences, alongside explaining the principles and philosophy behind what I do. ABOUT JOHN SHERWOOD
I am an English London-based multi-media artist.

John Sherwood Curriculum Vitae
1954 Born Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. I was schooled and brought up there.
1972-3 I attended the Pre-Diploma course Loughborough College of Art & Design.
1973-6 Honours Degree course at Leeds Polytechnic; appeared on Leeds local radio and Yorkshire TV
1979-80 Studied on the Art Teachers Certificate course at Goldsmiths University.

I worked consistently as an artist throughout my time as an educator. I sold work privately, and worked to commission aside from exhibiting in galleries.

TRACK RECORD
1977 Two person exhibition with Ralph Shephard in the Staircase Galleries, Bradford.
1983 One person exhibition at the Central Library, Romford.
1983 One person exhibition in the Stanhope Road Centre, Barnet College.
1983 Work featured in the Tolly Cobbold travelling Open Exhibition.
1986 One person art exhibition at the Judd Street Gallery, Bloomsbury.
1988 One person exhibition ‘Aspects’ at the Unicorn Theatre for Children.
1991 Work displayed in the front window of the Burlington Arcade overlooking Piccadilly as part of the ‘Unsung Heroes’ exhibition of artworks that had received a D notice from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition that year.
1993 Work featured in the Café Gallery Christmas Open Exhibition.
2008 Work featured on request in the ‘Rogue Artists’ exhibition, Brighton.

Now retired from education, I am expanding the nature and making of the artwork. I am promoting it more extensively.
